Chocolate Devotion
Had some ice cream the other day! Cold Stone's Chocolate Devotion.
Here's the breakdown.
Serving: Love it!
Calories:
Chocolate Ice Cream: 650
Brownie: 170
Chocolate Chips: 130
Fudge? 200
Waffle Cone: 160
---------------------------
Total Calories: 1310
I ate and enjoyed it! But won't be doing it any time soon again.
That's 40 minutes on the treadmill doing stair case intervals (very hard work), or about a half marathon at a moderate pace.
It was good but insane! :-)

When you sleep...
well, everything works out well also. I had an excellent night's sleep. Because I had lots of energy, I was inspired to try out something new. Here is the list some old some new.
- Brush my teeth with my left hand (I'm right handed).
- I use my mouse on the computer with my left hand; it really throws people off when they sit at my workstation :-).
- Write backwards, you need a mirror to read the words ( a la Da Vinci).
- Turn my pictures upside down (included is a sample, also my favorite, I have this in my office permanently up side down).
- Take a different route to work every day (read this in a web article somewhere) .
- Do lunges while pulling two 45lbs plates behind with a weight belt (do less if you are just starting).
- Study for 5 hours, taking a break every 30 minutes.
Next:
I'll be tasting food with my eyes closed.
Writing with my left hand.
Find my way around the house with my eyes closed.
What's the point: NEUROBICS
Cheers!

Improving Brain Capacity
Various reports mention the relationship between cardiovascular health and brain functions. The brain uses about twenty percent of all the oxygen we need. Improving oxygen intake will improve brain function. So here is one recipe:
Stair casing (workout on the treadmill).
Warm up for about 10 minutes (I used the stationary bike for that).
This is a common routine but it is hard. So sleep well the night before!
3 minutes at 3.5 mph
1 minute at 4 mph
1 minute at 5 mph
1 minute at 3.5 mph
1 minute at 6 mph
1 minute at 3.5 mph
1 minute at 7 mph
1 minute at 3.5 mph
1 minute at 8 mph
2 minutes at 3.5 mph
1 minute at 9 mph
2 minutes at 3.5 (really need the recovery at this point).
45 seconds at 10 mph
3-5 minutes 3.5 and below to recover.
I checked my heart rate monitor. I hit 189 max. I was sweating profusely. After that I was quite alert at my scheduled meeting in the afternoon and later in the evening.
Instead of feeling tired I was energized. Why is this so? There are a number of reasons. Blood flow is improved, this means that circulation is better, therefore oxygen distribution to the brain is more efficient.
Our lung capacity improves with this type of exercise (cardio), and therefore more oxygen is transported to our blood which then has the above mentioned beneficial effect.
I've worked up to the level above (it has been about 4 years since I started this new life style). Don't try this at home unless you've been doing this sort of thing for a while.
Moral of the story, start walking, running, golfing, etc. Vegetating is not appropriate. While we can not stop the aging process, we sure can slow it down considerably. How old was Moses when he died? Hmmm! There is more to it than we know.
Regardless of how long we live, more oxygen, nutrients, glucose to our brain will improve the quality of our life. Let's find ways to improve our brain capacity!

It is 4:21 AM. I should be sleeping but I woke up at 3:30 AM. So I started a new fitness log. Among the things to be tracked are my sleep habits. Does not look good for the last week. So far today or rather, last night, I got 5.30 hours of sleep. I'm sure I'm going to feel it later. Well, I'll try to put in at least another two hours. So off I go!

Positive Outcome
I'm back to my fighting weight (233lbs). So my Alaskan foray is over, lesson learned. I'm glad I experienced it.
I got rid of the extra weight in two weeks. Great! On to other things.

Cruising (it should be cursing, let me explain).
My boys really liked the trip.
I composed lots of photographs, some in my mind; others I stumbled upon, some were a visual feast.
I can’t (see the BAD and the UGLY), I feel I’m not telling the truth.
Ok, let’s try this: I hated the cruise!…………….
Can’t do that either (see the GOOD and some of my photos). Let’s try this. If you like being on a sea faring hotel, eating and drinking, don’t much care about the scenery or the weather, this trip is for you. If you do care about the scenery or the weather and have lots of money, this trip is for you. Otherwise plan your own trip (this is what we have always done), and do your own thing. Above or right, a typical glacier view, wait one minute, when did I get to Disneyland.. in Alaska!
